Seven years back I turned into a Rahman fan. Boys was an album that made me take Rahman and music seriously.
The refreshing tunes, new beats, wacky lyrics, everything made my sister and me loop the album for months. My favourite, for the longest time, was Sa re ga me. It then changed to Girlfriend and Ale Ale. The former had some insane guitar riffs. How awesome was Karthik’s singing in both the songs. Easily my favourite singer from this generation. And how nice Siddharth looked in the video of Ale Ale.
This album made Blaaze a star. At least in my eyes. I didn’t care much about Baba. I remember spending days to memorize the lyrics of Dating. What a fun song! And Break the rules with its wonderful heavy beats, remains one of the best rebel songs. Rahman went back to acapella style with Please sir, which I started appreciating quite late.
I remember reading something about the album being released in Hindi. True?
